Abstract:
An elevator, in which a winch having a drum is installed on the bottom of an elevator shaft. The winch is installed in the position in which it overlaps a region of projection of a car in the direction of elevation and a part of the drum is outside the region of projection of the car. A return wheel around which a length of hoisting rope is passed is disposed between the region of projection of the car and a wall of the elevator shaft so that a rotating shaft of the wheel is orthogonal to the wall of the elevator shaft. Also, the return wheel is disposed such that when the car is positioned at its highest position, at least a part of the wheel is positioned between the wall of the elevator shaft and the car.
