Abstract:
This emergency release mechanism is applied to a fluid cargo handling apparatus for transporting a fluid and comprises: a pair of piping portions (11, 12) with a vacuum dual-layer structure in which a passage for transporting the fluid is formed and which are arranged so as to have opening ends abut against each other; a removable connecting member (13) that connects the pair of piping portions to each other; and a pair of shut-off valves (14, 15) which are provided in correspondence to the pair of piping portions respectively and which shut off the passage. The pair of piping portions have valve seats (11e, 12e) formed in the passage, respectively. The shut-off valves have: valve bodies (23, 24) to be seated on the valve seats of the corresponding piping portions to close the passage; and translational motion drive devices (25, 26) that move the valve bodies along the passage to seat the valve bodies on the valve seats.
