Abstract:
When a motor (M) cannot be controlled as a result of electrical power supplied to the motor (M) being shut off while the motor (M) is operating, an emergency stop device (1) brings the motor (M) to an emergency stop. The emergency stop device (1) is provided with: a short circuit (2) that short-circuits via resistors (RU, RV, RW) between input lines (IU, IV, IW) for supplying electrical power to a plurality of coils (U, V, W) of the motor (M); and a control device (5) for controlling the operation of the short circuit (2). When supplied power is shut off while the motor (M) is operating, the control device (5) places the short circuit (2) into a short-circuit state, releases the short-circuit state of the short circuit (2) when any of the temperatures of the coils (U, V, W) and the resistors (RU, RV, RW) exceeds a prescribed reference value, and places the short circuit (2) into a short-circuit state when the temperatures of both the coils (U, V, W) and the resistors (RU, RV, RW) become lower than or equal to the reference value.
