Abstract:
There are included a separating part (1100) serving as separating means of separator for separating an encoded stream into a basic encoded signal (B), which has a smaller encoding amount than the encoded stream, and a plurality of expanded encoded signals (E(m)) to be used together with the basic encoded signal (B) for reproducing an image; and a multiplexing part (1600) serving as multiplexing means of separator for multiplexing the basic encoded signal (B) and expanded encoded signals (E(m)) by use of any desired combination to produce a plurality of transmission encoded signals (St(1)). In this way, the separated stream (St(1)), which comprises the multiplexed transmission encoded signals, can be produced and outputted. If this invention is applied to a network, a transmission path selection can be performed in accordance with the network status, thereby realizing an image scalable transmission.
