Abstract:
This encoding device (100) comprises a circuit (150) and memory (152). The circuit (150) uses the memory (152) to assess whether or not the morphology of a block to be divided satisfies a first condition. If the block to be divided satisfies the first condition, one or more prescribed candidates are deleted from a plurality of first candidate block division methods to generate one or more second candidates, the block division method is selected from among the one or more second candidates, and the block to be divided is divided according to the selected block division method.
