Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1997/030815
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Flutes (13a, 13c) provided in a body (12) are auxiliary flutes the fore ends of which do not pass through the fore end of the body, and flutes (13b, 13d) are main flutes the fore ends of which pass through the fore end of the body. The auxiliary flutes have two outer circumferential blade tips fixed to their tip seats, and the main flutes have one bottom blade tip fixed to their tip seats at the fore end portions thereof. The auxiliary flutes may pass through the fore end of the body, and at least one end portion thereof may communicate with the main flutes. Bottom blade tips may be provided to the lower end portions of the auxiliary flutes passing through the fore end of the body. In this case, the main flutes may not pass through the fore end of the body, and the bottom blade tips may not be provided thereto. During boring, cuttings move smoothly in the main flutes from which outer cirumferential blade tips do not project, and are discharged. While a hole is being enlarged, cuttings are stored temporarily in the auxiliary flutes, and discharged therefrom after the body has substantially made a half turn.
