Abstract:
[Problem] To provide an end surface light-emitting-type light guide rod in which a light-emitting element and a light-emitting part can be disposed in a different position from each other and which can efficiently guide light emitted from the light-emitting element, without leakage of light from a circumferential surface part, and to provide a manufacturing method for the end surface light-emitting-type light guide rod, with which the end surface light-emitting-type light guide rod can be manufactured at a low cost. [Solution] An end surface light-emitting-type light guide rod (100) is provided with: a rod-shaped core layer (1) which has, as a main material, a resin having a light transmitting property; and a clad layer (2) which is disposed on the outer circumference of the core layer (1) and which has, as a main material, a resin having a refractive index smaller than that of the core layer (1). The end surface light-emitting-type light guide rod (100) emits light that entered from one end surface (111) of the core layer (1) through the other end surface (2), and is configured such that the outer circumference of the clad layer (2) has further provided thereon a light-shielding layer (3) which has, as a main material, a resin having a property of absorbing a wavelength of light that transmits in the core layer (1), and such that the light-shielding layer (3) is provided by being integrally fused together with the clad layer (2).
