Abstract:
An endoscope system which displays biological function information and reliability thereof. According to this endoscope system, a first image signal is acquired by capturing an image of a specimen that is irradiated with light for measuring the degree of oxygen saturation, and a second image signal is also acquired by capturing an image of the specimen that is irradiated with white light. An ordinary light image (97) is formed from the second image signal. The degree of oxygen saturation is calculated from the first and second image signals. The degree of oxygen saturation thus calculated is imaged to give an image of the degree of oxygen saturation (96). By combining the ordinary light image (97) and the image of the degree of oxygen saturation (96), a highlighted image of the degree of oxygen saturation (98), in which an abnormal region (99) with a possibility of having an abnormal calculation result of the degree of oxygen saturation is highlighted with brightness, is formed. The thus formed highlighted image of the degree of oxygen saturation (98) is displayed on a display device.
