Abstract:
An endoscope system (1) comprises: an insertion part (4) that is inserted into a subject; a first subject image acquisition unit (12) that is provided to the insertion part (4) and acquires, from a first region of the subject, a first subject image which serves as a main image; a second subject image acquisition unit (13) that is provided to the insertion part (4) and acquires, from a second region of the subject which is different from the first region, a second subject image which serves as a sub-image; an insertion part use-state detection unit (32b) that detects the use-state of the insertion part and outputs a use-state detection results signal based on the detection results; an image signal generation unit (32d) that generates an image signal based on at least the first subject image from between the first subject image and the second subject image; and an image processing unit (32a) that displays, on a display-capable display unit, the first subject image and the second subject image in accordance with the use-state detection results signal output by the insertion part use-state detection unit (32b), and that changes the information amount of the second subject image.
