Abstract:
A maximum hardness Hmax2 of a flexible tube portion 13A of an endoscope 2A is set such that an effective maximum hardness Hmax2' obtained when an overtube 70 is attached becomes equal to or less than a maximum hardness Hmax1 of a flexible tube portion 13 of an endoscope 2. Specifically, the maximum hardness Hmax2 of the flexible tube portion 13A of the endoscope 2A is set so as to become approximately equal to the hardness obtained by subtracting the hardness of the overtube 70 itself from the maximum hardness Hmax1 of the flexible tube portion 13 of the endoscope 2, and, in the endoscope 2, 2A having a hardness changing function, the maximum hardness of the endoscope 2 to which the overtube 70 is not attached is approximately equal to the maximum hardness of the endoscope 2A to which the overtube 70 is attached.
