Abstract:
This endoscope system includes: a processor that has an image processing unit which determines, from an image of a biological tissue obtained by imaging, an inflammation evaluation value which is the extent of inflammation in the biological tissue quantified on the basis of color component information of the image; and a monitor that displays the inflammation evaluation value. The image processing unit includes: a blood vessel region determination unit that obtains the probability of a blood vessel region in the quantified biological tissue in the image on the basis of the shape that characterizes blood vessels; a pixel evaluation value generation unit that obtains, for each pixel of the image, a pixel evaluation value by means of a quantification process of quantifying the extent of characteristics presented by the inflammation on the basis of the color component information of each pixel; a pixel evaluation value adjustment unit that calculates, for each pixel of a region of the image, an adjustment value where the higher the probability of the blood vessel region, the more reduced the pixel evaluation value; and an integration unit that calculates the inflammation evaluation value by integrating the adjustment values of the pixels.
