A method of engaging a first plate-like member (20) and a second plate-like member (30) while forming the first plate-like member (20) in a male pattern shape and the second plate-like member (30) in a shape of a female pattern engaged with the male pattern. The first plate-like member (20) and the second plate-like member (30) are laid over each other between a punch (11) having a predetermined shape to form the male pattern shape and a die (12) having a hole portion (121), corresponding to the predetermined shape, to form the female pattern shape. When the first plate-like member (20) and the second plate-like member (30) are pressed by the punch (11) and the die (12), the first plate-like member and the second plate-like member are engaged while the male pattern shape is formed on the first plate-like member and the female pattern shape is formed in the second plate-like member.
