Abstract:
An engine start controller capable of improving an engine startability in a reverse control to ready for a next engine start by reversing a crankshaft (201) to a specified position immediately after an engine stops, comprising a reverse control means (75) for starting a reverse power transmission to a starter motor (1) immediately after the engine stops, a crank angle detection means (30) for detecting that the reversely rotating crankshaft reaches an angle corresponding to a top dead center, and a reverse load detection means (74) for detecting a reverse load on the crankshaft, wherein the reverse control means responses to either of such events that the arrival of the crankshaft at an angle corresponding to the top dead center is detected by the crank angle detection means (mark X on curve A in fig. 6(c)) and that the rise of the reverse load is detected by the reverse load detection means (mark X on curve B in fig. 6(c)), whichever comes earlier, to terminate the reverse power transmission.
