Abstract:
An engine 2 for a vehicle has an exhaust system device provided with an exhaust manifold 12 and an exhaust purification device 18, the exhaust system device is laid horizontally so that the direction of cylinder alignment coincides with the vehicle width direction, and the exhaust manifold 12 is placed at a prescribed distance from a dashboard panel 106 constituting a body of a vehicle 100. The exhaust purification device 18, as seen from the longitudinal direction of the vehicle 100, is placed at a position that overlaps a floor tunnel region 114 formed by a floor tunnel of the body, and is placed below the exhaust manifold 12 and to one side from the center of the engine 2 in the direction of cylinder alignment. An exhaust purification device entry path 17, which connects the exhaust manifold 12 and the exhaust purification device 18, is placed to the other side from the center of the exhaust manifold 12 in the direction of cylinder alignment, made to extend downward from the exhaust manifold 12, and connected to the exhaust purification device 18.
