Abstract:

A novel epoxy resin composition which can produce an extremely high flame-retardant effect without containing any flame retardant having atoms of a halogen, phosphorus, or the like. The composition comprises an epoxy resin (A), a hardener (B), a hardening accelerator (C), an inorganic filler (D), a metal hydrate (E), and a silicone compound (F) represented by the empirical formula (1): R¹_mR²_nSiO_(4-m-n)/2 (1) (wherein R¹ represents a group selected among a group in which the carbon atom directly bonded to the silicon atom is an aliphatic carbon atom, hydroxy, and alkoxy and R² represents a C_6-24 aromatic hydrocarbon group, provided that R¹ and R² each may be of two or more kinds; and m and n are numbers satisfying 1.1≤m+n≤1.7 and 0.4≤n/m≤2.5).
