The purpose of the present invention is to be able to manage terminals and the like connected to a network in a centralized control network environment, without introducing a monitoring program or other such specialized software onto the terminals. The equipment management system includes: a relay node which issues, to a terminal management device, identifying information that uniquely identifies a terminal; and a terminal management device which publishes the terminal identifying information to a user, and from a second terminal separate from the terminal, registers the user in question as the user of the terminal, and stores an association between the terminal and the user.
