Title:
ESCHERICHIA COLI MEMBRANE PROTEIN INSERTION FACTOR
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2011/108687
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Disclosed are: a novel Escherichia coli membrane protein insertion factor which is involved in the intake of a protein; and a method for utilizing the Escherichia coli membrane protein insertion factor particularly in the synthesis of a membrane protein in a cell-free system and the insertion of a protein into a membrane which occurs in conjunction with the aforementioned synthesis. Specifically disclosed is a membrane protein insertion factor in a highly purified form, which is characterized by having a structure represented by chemical formula (Ia) or (II). (In the formulae, R1 represents a saturated /unsaturated fatty acid residue that has a carbon chain containing 16 to 20 carbon atoms; R2 represents a hydrogen atom or an acetyl group; n represents an integer of 20 or less; GlcNAc represents N-acetylglucosamine; ManNAcA represents N-acetylmannosamine uronic acid; and Fuc4NAc represents 4-N-acetylaminofucose.)
