Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide an ESD protection device which, while operating at a discharge starting voltage similarly low to conventional ones, exhibits little change in discharge starting voltage due to repeated discharge. This ESD protection device (100) is provided with a ceramic laminate body (1) comprising an internally formed cavity (2), at least one pair of discharge electrodes (3, 3) arranged inside of the ceramic laminate body (1), and external electrodes (5, 5) formed on the surface of the ceramic laminate body (1) and connected to the discharge electrodes (3, 3), wherein one end surface (3a) of one of the discharge electrodes (3) and one end surface (3a) of the other of the discharge electrodes (3) of one pair of discharge electrodes (3, 3) face each other across the cavity (2), and the cavity (2) is integrally formed by the region (2a) between the facing end surfaces (3a, 3a), the regions (2c) along other end surfaces (3c) connected to the facing end surfaces (3a) via corner parts (3b), and, on a primary surface, the regions along the facing end surfaces (3a) and the regions (3e) along the other end surfaces (3c).
