Abstract:
Provided is an ethanol conversion method including a dehydration step in which a dehydrated starting material containing ethanol is subjected to a dehydration reaction by using a dehydration catalyst in a reactor and a dehydrated reaction gas containing ethylene is obtained, and an olefin conversion step in which a mixed starting material containing the dehydrated reaction gas is brought into contact with an olefin conversion catalyst in a reactor and a reaction gas containing an olefin having 3 or more carbon atoms is obtained. The mixed starting material contains ether, and, in the mixed starting material, the value expressed by formula (1) (In formula (1), EY is the molar amount of ethylene contained in the mixed starting material, EtOH is the molar amount of ethanol contained in the mixed starting material, and Ether is the molar amount of ether contained in the mixed starting material.) is 0.20 to 4.0.
