The purpose of this invention is to provide at least one of: a novel evaluation method concerning the scalp and/or hair; a selection method; an evaluation assistance tool; and a screening method. Provided is an evaluation method that: on the basis of information concerning corynebacteria in the scalp bacterial flora of an evaluee, evaluates scalp redness, a redness index, the amount of white hair, the number of hairs, and/or the magnitude of the variation in hair thickness in the evaluee; or evaluates information concerning corynebacteria in the scalp bacterial flora of the evaluee on the basis of scalp redness, a redness index, the amount of white hair, the number of hairs, and/or the magnitude of the variation in hair thickness in the evaluee. The evaluation method also, according to a redness index or scalp redness in the evaluee, evaluates the amount of white hair, the number of hairs, and/or the magnitude of the variation in hair thickness, and/or thin hair rate. Also provided are a selection method, an evaluation assistance tool, and a screening method.
