Abstract:
According to the present disclosure, provided is technology making it possible to curb movement of a noble metal catalyst due to a high-temperature environment, and prevent a decrease in temperature characteristics. The method of production disclosed herein comprises: a substrate preparation step for preparing an SiC substrate 10 that has partition walls 16 partitioning a plurality of cells and that contains SiC; and a catalytic layer formation step for forming a Pd catalytic layer 20 containing at least Pd particles 22 on a surface of the partition walls 16 of the SiC substrate 10. In the method of production disclosed herein, the catalytic layer formation step includes forming the Pd catalytic layer 20 by having the Pd particles 22 be supported directly on an Si member (for example, the partition walls 16 of the SiC substrate 10) containing Si or SiC. Bringing the Si member (SiC substrate 10) and the Pd particles 22 into contact in advance, as mentioned above, enables control of movement and aggregation of the Pd particles 22 in a high-temperature environment, and prevention of decrease in temperature characteristics.
