Abstract:
A substrate (11) of an exhaust gas purification catalyst (10) has an inlet-side cell (21), an outlet-side cell (22), and a porous partition wall (23) that partitions the inlet-side cell and the outlet-side cell. In the partition wall, catalyst parts (14, 15) are provided to a surface facing the inlet-side cell and/or a surface facing the outlet-side cell. In a cross-section perpendicular to the exhaust gas flow direction, the ratio of the total area of voids that satisfy the expression, L/[2(πS)1/2] ≤ 1.1 (where L is the peripheral length of the voids in the cross-section, and S is the area of the voids in the cross-section), to the apparent area of the catalyst parts present on the partition wall is 3% to 10%, inclusive.
