Abstract:

The purpose of the present invention is to provide an exhaust gas purification catalyst that comprises a wall flow–type base material and a catalyst layer and has improved gas purification performance. An exhaust gas purification catalyst that comprises a wall flow–type base material, a first catalyst layer, and a second catalyst layer. The first catalyst layer and the second catalyst layer satisfy expressions (1)–(3). (1) L1WC2. (In the expressions, L1 is the length of the first catalyst layer, L2 is the length of the second catalyst layer, T1 is the thickness of protruding portions of the first catalyst layer, T2 is the thickness of protruding portions of the second catalyst layer, WC1 is the mass of the first catalyst layer per unit volume of the portions of the base material at which the first catalyst layer is provided, and WC2 is the mass of the second catalyst layer per unit volume of the portions of the base material at which the second catalyst layer is provided.)
