Abstract:
An external handle device for a vehicle door comprises: a base (14) that is mounted to an external panel (12) from the interior; an operation handle (16) that is disposed on the exterior of the external panel and that has, on a support arm (19) penetrating from the exterior of the external panel to the interior of the external panel, a shaft (36) extending along a swing axis line (Sx); and a support member (17) that is mounted to the base, that, by engaging the shaft from the rear, causes the front end of the support arm to contact a contact receiving face (48) while turning the operation handle, and that restricts displacement of the shaft toward the external panel. The base is provided with a regulator (52) to regulate the operation handle displacement from the external panel toward the interior by contacting the support arm while turning the operation handle. Thus, an external handle device for a vehicle door that can more reliably prevent operation handle wobble is provided.
