Abstract:
[Problem] To provide an extracellular potential measurement assistance device that makes it possible to measure extracellular potential with high sensitivity. [Solution] An extracellular potential measurement assistance device 100 that has a first layer part 101 and a second layer part 103. A through hole 101c is formed in the first layer part 101, and a through hole 103c is formed in the second layer part 103, and through hole 101c and through hole 103c can be formed such that, when the two parts are superimposed, there is communication between an upper surface 103b of the second layer part 103 and a lower surface 101a of the first layer part 101. The present invention makes it possible to provide fresh outside culture medium to cells that are below the first layer part 101 and to maintain the cells in an appropriate state when extracellular potential is to be measured. The present invention also makes it possible to determine an optimal pressure for measuring extracellular potential, the optimal pressure corresponding to the type and state of the cells for which extracellular potential is to be measured. The present invention also makes it possible to press cells toward a measurement electrode, increases the intensity of the signal generated by cellular activity, can improve signal intensity, improves the S/N ratio for measurement of extracellular potential, and makes it possible for extracellular potential to be measured with high sensitivity, which makes it possible for extracellular potential to be measured even for cells for which signal intensity is weak.
