Abstract:
In this mechanism that is designed to spread and fold a fabric, the parts are: a fabric winding reel turning around the central axis, and a tape winding reel, and tape routers that lead the tapes to the corners; and a fabric that is attached to the tape tips from the corners and to the fabric winding reel from its centre. When the fabric is spread, if the fabric winding reel is turned, the fabric is winded to the fabric winding reel, the fabric pulls the tapes towards the axis and tapes are winded to the tape winding reel. When one of the tape tips is pulled to the related corner, other tape tips also go towards the related corners and the fabric becomes spread. Tapes are same to the concave steel tapes that are used in tape measure.

Claims

1. This is a fabric spreading and folding mechanism which has the qualifications of including; a fabric winding reel (4) that turns around the central axis (2) and folds the fabric (9) by winding, and steel tapes (1) providing the fabric (9) to spread, and a steel tape winding reel (8) that turns around the central axis (2) and overlaps the steel tapes (1) by winding, and steel tape routers (6) that are fixed at the outer edges of the steel tape winding reel case (7) which is fixed on the central axis (2) and leading the steel tapes (1) to the related corners, and a fabric (9) that is attached to steel tape tips (5) from the corners and to fabric folding reel (4) from its centre.

FABRIC SPREADING AND FOLDING MECHANISM

This invention is about a mechanism that practically can be used spreading and folding car cover, curtain fabric, sunshade fabric, umbrella fabric and similar fabrics.

This goal of that work is to make fabric spreading-folding process easy and fast and to minimize the size of the folded fabric.

The applied technic in this invention is proper to use especially for coverings like car windscreen sunshades, umbrellas, car covers, banners and curtains. This approach is different than the other technics that are known and used in this area. With this technic, it takes less time to spread and fold the fabric and the folded fabric fits into a smaller volume; therefore, this approach has more advantage then other technics.

As can be seen in the figure 1, mechanism table (3) is fixed at the middle of the surface to be covered (10) with the help of suction cup or another replaceable tool. Central axis (2) is fixed at the centre of the mechanism table (3). Steel tape winding reel case (7) is fixed to the central axis (2). The fabric winding reel (4) that is placed between the mechanism table (3) and steel tape winding reel case (7) is movable on central axis (2). Steel tape routers (6) are fixed at the outer edges of the steel tape winding reel case (7). The locations of steel tape routers (6) are suitable to the direction that the steel tapes tips (5) need to go when the fabric (9) unfolds. The steel tape winding reel (8) is in the steel tape winding reel case (7) and movable on the central axis (2). The steel tape tips (5) are fixed at the one tip of the steel tapes (1). The other tips of the steel tapes (1) are fixed at the centre of the steel tape winding reel (8) in a way that can be winding to the steel tape winding reel (8). There is a spiral spring inside of the steel tape winding reel (8). as in the tape measure, this l spring helps steel tapes (1) to wind to the reel. This spring’s power is on the level, which makes steel tapes (1) to wind to the steel tape winding reel (8) and unwind the easiest. The fabric’s (9) corners are fixed to the steel tape tips (5). The centre of the fabric (9) is fixed to the centre of the fabric winding reel (4). As can be seen in the figure 2, when the fabric is open; if the fabric winding reel (4) is turned through the counter clockwise; the fabric (9) winds to the fabric winding reel (4) properly and tightly. Meanwhile, the fabric (9) pulls the steel tapes (1) from their steel tape tips (5) towards the central axis (2) and steel tapes (1) wind to the steel tape winding reel (8) like in the figure 3. At the one side of the fabric winding reel (4) there are steel tapes (1 ) and at the other side of the fabric winding reel (4), there are mechanism table (3). So, the fabric (9) winds to the fabric winding reel (4) properly. Fabric (9) cannot get out of the fabric winding reel (4).

As can be seen in the figure 3, when the fabric (9) is winded, if one of the steel tape tips (5) is pulled towards the related corner, the steel tape folding reel (8) turns to clockwise; meanwhile, the other steel tape tips (5) also go to corner where the steel tape routers (6) lead. In the meantime, steel tape tips (5) pull the fabric (9) corners towards the spreading direction, and the fabric (9) opens as in the figure 2.

Steel tapes (1) are not straight. Steel tapes (1) are like the concave steel tapes that are used in the tape measures. The property of being concave, greatly increases the strength of the steel tapes (1 ).

The work to turn the fabric winding reel (4) or steel tape winding reel (8) can be done by using a proper electric motor or pulling a rope that are winded to the mechanism or placing springs with different powers that are proper to wind and spread.
