Abstract:
The present invention appropriately transmits far infrared rays, while having improved abrasion resistance. A far infrared ray transmitting member 20 according to the present invention comprises a base material 30 which transmits far infrared rays, and a first functional film 32 which is formed on the base material 30, while comprising an NiOx layer 34 that is mainly composed of NiOx; the average transmittance of light having a wavelength of 8 µm to 12 µm is 50% or more; and the maximum value Hmax of the indentation hardness within the range of indentation depth from the functional film surface of 40 nm to 110 nm is 10 GPa or more as determined by a nanoindentation method.
