Description:
Fastening device

The present invention relates to a fastening device for putting up different types of items, e.g. light things, messages, pictures or the like, on such surfaces, to which magnets can be attached, e.g. a plate cabinet door or a refrigerator door.

On the market today there are different systems for putting up items, e.g. messages and the like, on a supporting metal surface, e.g. plate cabinet or refri¬ gerator doors. The most common type of fastening de¬ vices consists of a small plastic figure, on the rear side of which there is a piece of magnet and, when putting up a message on the refrigerator door, this piece of magnet is placed upon the paper when it is lying against the refrigerator door. Thus, the piece of magnet fixes the paper between itself and the refrige¬ rator door. One problem with this arrangement is, if the paper is too thick, that the magnetic force of the piece of magnet cannot support the paper against the refrigerator door but at the slightest breath of air the paper will fall to the floor together with the piece of magnet. Other fastening systems are clothes- peg-formed devices, which are kept in place towards the refrigerator door by means of magnetic force but which by a spring clamp force hold the message in place. This type of fastening system is expensive and somewhat hard to handle.

The purpose of the present invention is to provide a fastening device of the kind mentioned above, by which the problems of prior art fastening devices have been eliminated. The characterizing features of the inven- tion are set forth in the accompanying claims.

Thanks to the invention a fastening device has been provided which in an excellent way fulfils its purposes at the same time also being cheap and simple to manu¬ facture. The fastening device according to the inven- tion can preferably have the shape of a strip stored in the form of a roll, one surface of the strip being sticky and after removal from the roll being able to secure against the rear side of the item, a message, picture or the like, which is to be put up. The other side of the strip is magnetic so that the item, which has been provided with strip lengths separated from the roll, can now rapidly and simply be removably attached to e.g. a refrigerator door. Also, if the item to be put up is very heavy the strip according to the in- vention does not get loose from the refrigerator door. Further, the attachment force against the refrigerator door can easily be varied by using fastening strips of different widths or by placing many fastening strips on heavy items. Another advantage with the fastening device according to the invention is that items already put up on the refrigerator door can easily be replaced after the attachment to a desired, suitable place on the door in question.

The invention will now be described below more in detail by means of a preferred embodiment example reference being made to the accompanying drawings, on which

Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a fastening device, which is stored in a retainer and from which it can by use be rolled out and separated, and

Fig. 2 is a view along the line II-II of the fastening device according to Fig. 1.

In accordance with a preferred embodiment the fastening device 1 according to the present invention consists of an fastening piece 2 shaped as a strip, which is stored in the form of a roll and from which it is separable in suitable dimensions, said fastening piece comprising two coatings 3 and 4 facing each other. The one coating 3 consists of an adhesive for attachment to the item to be put up or fastened and the other coating 4 consists of a magnetic material for removable positioning of the item provided with the strip 2 against e.g. a refrige¬ rator door, a plate cabinet, a plate surface of a vehicle or the like.

The coating 4 of magnetic material can consist of a magnetic strip or tape or of a plastic film including magnetic powder or pieces. According to the illustrat¬ ed, preferred embodiment the separable pieces of the fastening device 1 are in the form of said strip 2, which is easily separable to a desired length, e.g. by means of a tearing off device 5 placed on a retainer 7. The retainer 7 is provided to rotatably support the fastening device 1 in the shape of the strip 2 stored in the form of a roll. In order easily to be able to tear off a desired length of the strip 2 the tearing off device 5 has a saw-tooth formation, which when tearing off the strip 2 penetrates therein at the same time as the strip 2 is torn off by means of said tooth formation.

The strip 2 has a width, which is predetermined and adapted to the intended field of use and is storable in the retainer 7 in the form of a roll 6, from which it can easily be rolled off and separable when used. The adhesive 3 of the strip 2 can consist of a double adhesive tape or any other suitable adhesive material, and an exemple of a double adhesive tape usable in this

connection is disclosed in the European Patent Publica¬ tion EP-0 121 430.
