Abstract:
A fault detection device for a rotation sensor, said fault detection device being equipped with: a rotary electric machine (17) that is driven by rotational force input from the outside, thereby generating AC power, and that carries out power running by means of power that is input from the outside; a rotation sensor (44) that detects rotation information, which is the rotational position and/or the rotational speed of the rotary electric machine; and a voltage sensor (42) that detects AC voltage output by the rotary electric machine. This fault detection device for a rotation sensor is equipped with: a control unit (14) that, on the basis of an operation command that is input from the outside, controls the AC power generation and power running states of the rotary electric machine; and a fault detection unit (14) that, when an operation command has not been input to the control unit from the outside, detects a fault in the rotation sensor on the basis of the rotation information detected by the rotation sensor and the AC voltage detected by the voltage sensor 42.
