The present invention relates to the technical field of air conditioners, and specifically provides a fault monitoring method for an air conditioning unit, aiming at solving the existing problem that an air conditioning unit is forced to stop due to damage to an electrical element caused by a lack of an early warning, in the air conditioning unit, that the electrical element gradually changes from a minor fault to a significant fault. For this purpose, according to the present invention, the air conditioning unit is controlled to operate according to a test command data group, and determines whether an actual operating parameter of a compressor is within a standard operating parameter range of the compressor corresponding to the current indoor environment parameter and the current outdoor environment parameter to quickly determine whether a fault occurs in the air conditioning unit and to perform early warning on the fault, so that the air conditioning unit can be timely prevented from changing from a minor fault to a significant fault, and the air conditioning unit is prevented from being damaged and stopped.
