Abstract:
Disclosed is a fault protection method for an optical network. The method comprises: a cross-layer controller connecting an optical network and an IP network sending, to an optical controller in the optical network, an indication that a first optical service in an optical fiber belongs to a first priority and a second optical service in the optical fiber belongs to a second priority, wherein the first priority is related to the characteristics of a first IP link in the IP network, and the second priority is related to the characteristics of a second IP link in the IP network. When a fault occurs in the optical fiber, a protection priority of any optical service belonging to the first priority is higher than a protection priority of any optical service belonging to the second priority. In this method, a cross-layer controller sends, to an optical controller, indication information indicating that different optical services belong to different priorities, and when a fault occurs in an optical network, the optical controller determines a protection order of the different optical services according to the priorities. Therefore, random behaviors during optical network fault protection are avoided, and targeted optical network fault protection is provided.
