Abstract:
The present invention relates to a feedback device for outputting thermal feedback and a thermal feedback providing method using the same. A thermal feedback providing method according to an aspect of the present invention is performed by a feedback device for transmitting, to a user, heat generated by a thermoelectric operation including at least one of a heat-generating operation and a heat-absorbing operation, performed by a thermoelectric element to which power is applied, through a contact surface coming in contact with the user's body part, so as to output thermal feedback to the user. The thermal feedback providing method comprises the steps of: applying operating power to the thermoelectric element in order to start outputting the thermal feedback; stopping applying the operating power in order to end the thermal feedback outputting; and applying buffer power for reducing the rate of change in the temperature of the contact surface in order to prevent the user from feeling a thermal reverse illusion, that is, a thermal illusion opposed to the thermal feedback, in the process where the temperature of the contact surface, which has been changed by the thermoelectric operation, returns to the initial temperature due to the interruption of the applied operating power.
