Abstract:
A novel thin film of Y-type hexagonal ferrite for a high frequency device having the c-axis of its crystal being oriented perpendicular to the surface of the film; and a method for preparing the thin film which comprises providing a viscous solution comprising a metal-organic composite being formed from a Fe?3+¿ ion as a primary component and, as secondary components, Ba?2+¿ ion and at least one transition metal ion selected from the group consisting of Fe?2+¿, Co?2+¿, Ni?2+¿, Zn?2+¿, Cu?2+¿ and Mn?2+¿, and in some cases, Sr?2+¿, Ca?2+¿ and Pb?2+¿, forming a film having a composition for Y-type hexagonal ferrite on a noble metal surface through the use of the viscous solution by a coating method, and firing the film at 750 ° C or higher. A thin film of Y-type hexagonal ferrite has been prepared for the first time.
