Abstract:
A problem addressed by the present invention is to provide a low-molecular compound that has relatively high safety when ingested, that can be ingested orally, that can be produced relatively inexpensively, and that has anti-ferroptosis activity and an ability to scavenge lipid peroxy radicals. A ferroptosis inhibitor that includes one or more compounds selected from the group consisting of compounds represented by formulas (I)-(III) and physiologically acceptable salts thereof; an agent for the prevention or treatment of a disease associated with ferroptosis; a lipid peroxy radical scavenger; or an agent for the prevention or treatment of a disease caused by lipid peroxide accumulation and/or lipid peroxy radicals. (In the formulas; R represents H; a substituted or unsubstituted linear or branched C1-20 alkyl group; a substituted or unsubstituted linear or branched C2-20 alkenyl group; or –(CH2CH=CH(CH3)CH2)nH (in the formula, n represents an integer of 1-12).)
