Abstract:
A farm mapping system and method to accurately locate boundaries and entrance determination for autonomous farm machinery. The mapping system comprises a processing structure, one or more sensor systems providing sensor data, at least one communication device, and a power platform for propelling the mapping system through the farm. The sensor system has a field of view relative to the power platform. The processing structure retrieves at least one overview map of the farm via the at least one communication device. The method comprises: providing sensor data to a processing structure, instructing a power platform to propel the processing structure through the farm, retrieving an overview map of the farm via a communication device, estimating an estimated field feature from the overview map, and updating a global farm map by continuously processing the sensor data.
