Abstract:
An edge part of an aluminum material is superposed on an edge part of a steel material
(1) having, on a surface thereof, an aluminum-based coating layer comprising
aluminum or an aluminum alloy so that the side having the aluminum-based coating
layer faces the aluminum material and that the aluminum material is disposed
on the torch side. Using a filler metal containing 1.5-6.0 mass% silicon, with
the remainder being aluminum and unavoidable impurities, the overlap is subjected
to lapped fillet jointing by AC MIG arc welding. With this filler metal for use
in bonding different materials and with this method of bonding different materials,
an aluminum or aluminum alloy material can be easily bonded to a steel material
at low cost to give a joint having excellent bonding strength.
