Claims:
CLAIMS

A fire extinguishing system for a vehicle's exterior, characterised by comprising

• At least 4 solenoid or pyrotechnically controlled fire extinguishing tubes (1),

• Valves (2) for running the system that are located on each fire extinguishing tube,

• Nozzles (3) that are located on the right and left of the vehicle which ensures that the fire extinguishing liquid is homogenously spread over the vehicle's exterior surface,

• Rustproof pipes (4) that provide connection among nozzles,

• A control panel (5) that tests and controls the system,

• A power warning light (5.1.1) that indicates whether there is an error with the . request, TUBE1 ERROR warning light (5.1.2), TUBE2 ERROR warning light (5.1.3) and a system ready warning light (5.1.4) located on the control box,

• A control lever (5.2) located on the control box.

A fire extinguishing system for a vehicle's exterior according to Claim 1, characterised in that the number of fire extinguishing tubes are at least 4.

A fire extinguishing system for a vehicle's exterior according to Claim 1, characterised in that the fire extinguishing tubes are solenoidally controlled.

A fire extinguishing system for a vehicle's exterior according to Claim 1, characterised in that the fire extinguishing tubes are pyrotechnically controlled.

A fire extinguishing system for a vehicle's exterior according to Claim 1, characterised in that the valves are "or" valves.

A fire extinguishing system for a vehicle's exterior according to Claim 1, characterised in that the pipes (4) are covered by a metal plates (8).

Description:
A FIRE EXTINGUISHING SYSTEM FOR A VEHICLE'S EXTERIOR

Technical Field

The invention according to the invention relates to a fire extinguishing system for protecting life safety of the personnel and minimising the damage induced by fire on the vehicle in case of fire caused by a Molotov cocktail or similar inflammable materials thrown by protesters to the armoured vehicles' exterior.

The State-of-the-Art (Prior Art)

Today, armoured vehicles are actively used for maintaining internal security and supressing riots. Protestors or ill-minded individuals try to make security forces' vehicles non- operational by using usually Molotov cocktails in riots.

A Molotov cocktail is a crude grenade which is prepared by putting a little amount of sulphuric acid and a gasoline-paraffin mixture into a glass bottle and lit by means of a fuse. In our day, it is the most frequently used assault tool in street riots and protests with terror tendency. This is due to the fact that it is easily prepared and the materials used are not banned,

Molotov cocktails or similar inflammable materials thrown by protesters onto the exterior of armoured vehicles which maintain security puts the armoured vehicle personnel's lives at risk and causes damage on the armoured vehicle.

Some of the fire extinguishing systems for vehicle exterior according to the state-of- the-art are not sufficient and do not prevent vehicles from being damaged. The fire extinguishing materials used in these systems are generally dry chemical powders. Chemicals are materials that may pose adverse effects on human life. The powder cloud generated during fire extinguishing process with dry chemical powders may lift up the inflammable dusts in the environment.

The said fire extinguishing systems for vehicle exterior according to the state-of-the- , art cannot effectively extinguish fires breaking out simultaneously on the side, top, rear and front sections of vehicles.

l Brief Description and Aims of the Invention

The following have been aimed in the development of the fire extinguishing system . for a vehicle's exterior according to the application:

· In vehicles used for security purposes, it extinguishes inflammable materials thrown onto a vehicle's surface;

• It is applicable to any vehicle by configuring pipes, hose lengths, the number of nozzles and tube volumes according to the vehicle;

• The number of blasts without refilling is increased by increasing the number of fire extinguisher tubes;

• It is ensured that the fire extinguishing liquid reaches any point on the vehicle in order to minimise damage inflicted on the vehicle;

• The fire extinguishing liquid is cleaned with water without requiring any. 1 chemical.

The invention according to the application is a fire extinguishing system for protecting life safety of personnel and minimising the damage induced by fire on the vehicle in case of fire caused by a Molotov cocktail or similar inflammable materials thrown by protesters to the armoured vehicles' exterior, characterised by comprising

• At least 4 solenoid or pyrotechnically controlled fire extinguishing tubes (1),

• Valves (2) for running the system that are located on each fire extinguishing tube,

• Nozzles (3) that are located on the right and left of the vehicle which ensures that the fire extinguishing liquid is homogenously spread over the vehicle's exterior surface,

• Rustproof pipes (4) that provide connection among nozzles,

• A control panel (5) that tests and controls the system,

• A power warning light (5.1.1) that indicates whether there is an error with the . request, TUBE1 ERROR warning light (5.1.2), TUBE2 ERROR warning light (5.1.3) and a system ready warning light (5.1.4) located on the control box,

• A control lever (5.2) located on the control box.

The fire extinguishing tubes located on the right side of the vehicle send fire extinguishing liquid to the nozzles on the right-hand side and the fire extinguishing tubes- located on the left side of the vehicle send fire extinguishing liquid to the nozzles on the left- hand side with the help of rustproof pipes and hose with steel netting.

When the vehicle's main power switch is turned on, the fire extinguishing system for a vehicle's exterior tests itself. The main switch is a mechanical lever that is located on the system's electric wiring and used for switching on and off the electric current to the fire extinguishing system for a vehicle's exterior which operates independently from the ignition key. The test result is communicated to the operator by means of the warning lights (5.1) located on the control panel. Thus, the system is able to operate when the ignition key is off, i.e. when the vehicle is stationary.

When the fire extinguishing system for a vehicle's exterior starts testing itself, the TUBE1 ERROR warning light (5.1.2) and the TUBE2 ERROR warning light (5.1.3) blink once respectively. In case there are no errors after the test, the system ready warning light (5.1.4) lights on.

The fire extinguishing system for a vehicle's exterior is capable of extinguishing twice before the tubes (1) are refilled with the help of the "or" valves (2). After extinguishing ' twice, the fire extinguishing tubes (1) are refilled. The number of blast by the system without refilling the tubes (1) may be increased by increasing the number of tubes (1) and "or" valves (2).

The control lever located on the control panel (5) is moved into the TUBE1 position, the tubes No 1 (1.1) simultaneously discharge the fire extinguishing liquid to the vehicle's exterior. If the fire couldn't be extinguished with the tubes No 1 (1.1), then the control lever (5.2) is moved into the TUBE2 position. In the TUBE 2 position, the tubes No 2 (1.2) simultaneously discharge the fire extinguishing liquid to the vehicle's exterior.

The nozzles' (3) blowing angles, positions and the angle of the range they form affect the system's success. The nozzles blast foam at high angles to form a fan shape and blow in parallel to the surface or at a low angle.

Since the pipes extending along the vehicle body are to be protected against impacts, they are guarded with metal protective plates (8).
