Abstract:
[Problem] To provide: a flame-retardant resin composition that has superior extrusion moldability, mechanical characteristics, flame retardance, and the like, imparts slipperiness to a molded body surface, causes a cable surface to be low-friction when used in an optical cable, and is also favorable in wire passage to a conduit; and an optical cable provided with the resin composition. [Solution] The flame-retardant resin composition contains a specific amount of each of a polyolefin resin modified by an unsaturated carboxylic acid and an ethylene-α-olefin copolymer and/or polyethylene having a density in a predetermined range as resin components, combines the use of a specific amount of magnesium hydroxide and aluminum hydroxide as flame retardants added to the resin components, contains a specific amount of a silicone-based lubricant, has superior extrusion moldability, mechanical characteristics, flame retardance, and the like, and when used in an optical cable, has favorable wire passage to a conduit.
