Abstract:

A flame retardant comprising hydrotalcite compound particles having excellent resistance to thermal deterioration when used as a flame retardant for resins; a synthetic resin composition containing the flame retardant; and a molded article obtained from the composition. The flame retardant is characterized by comprising hydrotalcite compound particles which have: (1) an average secondary-particle diameter as determined by the laser diffraction scattering method of 2 $g(m)m or smaller and (2) a total content of iron compounds and manganese compounds of up to 0.02 wt.% in terms of metal.
