Abstract:
The invention relates to a flat gas discharge lamp, comprising a discharge chamber and electrodes, whereby the discharge chamber comprises a base plate (1), a top plate (2) and at least one spacer element (8) between the base plate (1) and the top plate (7). It is normal that spacer elements disturb the homogeneity of the light density distribution on the top plate (7). According to the invention, said disturbance is avoided, whereby the spacer elements (8) are additionally arranged as dielectric impeded electrodes. Each spacer element, thus, comprises an electrically conducting component (9), connected to an electrode or power supply. The spacer elements (8) may then actively participate in the discharge and consequently in the production of light.
