Abstract:
The present invention provides a better floating video display device. The present invention contributes to the sustainable development goals of 3. Ensuring good health and wellbeing for all and 9. Building infrastructure for industry and technical innovation. The present invention comprises a video display unit that displays video, a retroreflection plate that is struck by a beam of light from the video display device, an imaging unit, and a control unit. The beam of light as reflected at the retroreflection plate forms floating video that is a real image formed in the air. The control unit can set a virtual position for a 3D model relative to the floating video that is a real image. The video display unit displays video that is the result of rendering processing of 3D data for the 3D model based on the virtual position for the 3D model and a viewpoint position for a user detected on the basis of an image captured by the imaging unit. Video for stereoscopic viewing of the 3D model based on motion parallax is displayed at the floating video that is a real image. The virtual position for the 3D model set by the control unit is a position that has been shifted relative to the position of the floating video that is a real image formed in the air in the direction opposite the direction in which a principal ray of light advances when the beam of light as reflected at the retroreflection plate forms the floating video.
