Abstract:
Adjustable focus glasses (100) are formed using liquid crystal. A pair of adjustable focus glasses (100) can include a frame (110) and two lenses (210, 220) arranged on the frame (110). At least one of the two lenses (210, 220) is a lens assembly (120) that includes a plano-concave lens (210), a Fresnel lens (220), and a liquid crystal layer (332) between the plano-concave lens (210) and the Fresnel lens (220). The plano-concave lens (210) includes a planar surface (211) and an opposing concave surface (212). The Fresnel lens (220) includes a Fresnel surface (221) and an opposing convex surface (222). The planar surface (211) and the Fresnel surface (221) face the liquid crystal layer (332). The focus position of the lens assembly (120) can be adjusted through changing the refractive index of the liquid crystal layer (332), using appropriate control signals from an electronic controller. This conveniently allows the adjustable focus glasses (100) to be multi-purpose and suitable for correcting both myopia and hyperopia.
