Disclosed is a foldable and retractable top structure of a high top tent, wherein the number of top rods (31) in each group at the top of the tent is provided according to the number of upright rods (1) of the tent; the top rods (31) in each group are pivotably connected by a central base (32); the top rods (31) in each group are assembled from inner side top rods (33) and outer side top rods (34) of the same length connected in a one-way pivotable fashion; the inner side top rods (33) are composed of inner sleeve rods (331) and outer sleeve rods (332) capable of being sleeved into each other; and a positioning function can be achieved after the inner sleeve rods (331) protrude out of the outer sleeve rods (332) by means of locking devices (4) at the inner ends of the outer sleeve rods (332). By using the structure of inner and outer sleeve rods to form the inner side top rods of the top supports, the deployment and retraction of the inner and outer sleeve rods is achieved by the locking devices, which not only satisfies the requirement for the high top of the tent but also achieves the effect of decreasing the folded height of the high top tent.
