The food item (40) holding device (10) is provided with: a right hand part (18) which is configured so as to be able to hold a food item (40) in a first orientation in which a first surface part (40a) thereof is horizontal and to change the orientation of the food item (40) from the first orientation to a second orientation in which a second surface part (40b) is horizontal; a right arm (food item supply part) (13) which is configured so as to sequentially supply food items (40) held in the second orientation by the right hand part (18) to a predetermined position; a left hand part (second holding part) (19) which is configured so that a plurality of the food items (40) that had been supplied in the second orientation to the predetermined position are held adjacently in a predetermined direction; and a left arm (food item storing part) (13) which stores the multiple food items (40) held by the left hand part (19) into a predetermined container.
