Abstract:
This electronic apparatus capable of transmitting or receiving wireless power comprises: a wireless power transfer (WPT) coil; and a processor operatively connected to the WPT coil, wherein the processor may: control a first ping signal to be transmitted to an external object through the WPT coil; identify a waveform of a current or voltage measured during or after transmission of the first ping signal; obtain a Q factor on the basis of the identified waveform; when the obtained Q factor is less than a preset Q factor, determine that the external object is or includes a foreign object and is located at the center of the WPT coil, and control a power transmission operation; when the obtained Q factor is greater than or equal to the preset Q factor, transmit a second ping signal to the external object through the WPT coil; identify a waveform of a current or voltage during or after transmission of the second ping signal; identify inductances measured at both ends of the WPT coil on the basis of the identified waveform; and on the basis of the measured inductances, determine that the external object is or includes a foreign object and is located around the WPT coil, and control the power transmission operation.
