Abstract:
Provided are a method and device for forming an arc spring with which seating surfaces at both ends of a semi-finished product having a circumferential length within an allowable range can easily and reliably be positioned in a specified position. For a semi-finished product 11A prior to bending an axis line TA, a determination is made regarding whether the respective lengths of seating surfaces 25A of the end faces 23A in the circumferential direction of the semi-finished product 11A are within an allowable range, said determination being made on the basis of information about an end face image obtained by imaging both end faces 23A of the semi-finished product 11A from the axial direction prior to bending. When the respective lengths of the seating surfaces 25A of both end faces 23A in the circumferential direction are within the allowable range the end face image information is used to identify a rotational position of the semi-finished product in the circumferential direction at which the seating surfaces 25A of the end faces 23A can be positioned within a specified position in the circumferential direction, the semi-finished product 11A is rotated to the identified rotational position, wedge parts 51 are sequentially inserted into the helical coil intervals 19A of the semi-finished product 11A while moving the semi-finished product 11A in the axial direction prior to bending, thereby deforming the semi-finished product 11A.
