Abstract:
Provided is a four-stroke engine, wherein a control device: executes, by switching therebetween, a multi-injection control for controlling a fuel injection device so that closed intake valve injection in which the supply of fuel is terminated during a closed-valve period before an intake valve opens and open intake valve injection in which the supply of fuel is terminated during an open-valve period where the intake valve is open are both performed within a single combustion cycle, and a single-injection control for controlling the fuel injection device so that the closed intake valve injection is performed and the open intake valve injection is not performed within a single combustion cycle; sets, in the multi-injection control and in the single-injection control, a limit amount for a closed intake valve injection amount that is an amount of fuel injected in the closed intake valve injection; and if the closed intake valve injection amount exceeds the limit amount, then executes the multi-injection control so that at least as much fuel as the excess amount above the limit amount is supplied in the open intake valve injection.
