Title:
A FOUR-WAY TEST VALVE METHOD
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2022/010449
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a four‐way safety valve test method that allows the four‐way safet valve used in vehicles with air brake system such as trucks, tow trucks, buses to be controlled by integrating into a device so as to determine whether the compressed air produced by the compressor and stored in the air tanks can be used independently of each other for the front axle, rear axle and handbrake. With this method, it is checked whether the four‐way safety valve works in vehicles with an air brake system or not, whether the front axle, rear axle and handbrake air tanks work independently of each other or not, In case of a possible air leakage, whether the tanks help each other until 4 bar remains or not, the tanks outside the leaking line protect themselves and ensure a minimum pressure of 4 bar or not.

1-Pnemuatic brake system four-way valve test method characterized in that, it comprises the following; connecting the hoses from the front axle, rear axle and handbrake air tank test ends of the vehicle to be tested with four-way test to the device, starting the vehicle until the vehicle's tanks are completely filled and stopping the same after the tanks are filled, driving the device for emptying the front axle tank via software, opening of the solenoid valve connected to the front axle to evacuate the air, holding the polluting liquids by means of the liquid retaining apparatus and discharging fresh air to the environment, monitoring the pressure in other tanks through the device and software (other tanks help the emptied tanks until they have a pressure of 4 bar inside them and the pressures of the other tanks do not fall below 4 bar, they protect themselves), starting the vehicle again and calculating the filling time of the tanks via the software and transmitting the filling time to the software, stopping the vehicle after the tanks are filled, driving the device by the operator for emptying the tank connected to the rear axle, discharging the air by means of the solenoid valve connected to the rear axle after it opens, retaining the polluting liquids by passing the air coming out of the solenoid valve through the liquid trap, and discharging fresh air into the environment, monitoring the pressure in other tanks through the device and software (other tanks helping the evacuated tanks until they have a pressure of 4 bars inside them and other tank pressures do not fall below 4 bars, protecting themselves), restarting the vehicle and calculating the filling time of the tanks by the software and the device and transferring to software, stopping the vehicle after the tanks are emptied, driving the vehicle by the operator so as to empty the handbrake tank, opening of the solenoid valve connected to the handbrake tank and starting to discharge the air, keeping the polluting liquids by passing the air coming out of the solenoid valve through the liquid trap and discharging clean air to the environment, restarting the vehicle and calculating the filling time of the tanks by the software and the device and transferring to the software, stopping the vehicle after the tanks are emptied, monitoring the pressure in other tanks via the device and software (other tanks help the emptied tanks ntil they have a pressure of 4 bar inside and other tanks' pressures do not fall below 4 bars, they protect themselves).

Description:
A FOUR-WAY TEST VALVE METHOD

Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a four-way safety valve test method that allows the four way safety valve used in vehicles with air brake system such as trucks, tow trucks, buses to be controlled by integrating into a device so as to determine whether the compressed air produced by the compressor and stored in the air tanks can be used independently of each other for the front axle, rear axle and handbrake or not.

With this method it is checked that whether the compressed air stored in the air tanks of vehicles equipped with an air brake system is stored separately for the front axle, rear axle and handbrake or not, in case of a possible air leak, whether the front axle, rear axle and handbrake line work independently of each other or not, whether the four-way safety valve installed on the vehicle by the vehicle manufacturer works in accordance with the standards or not.

PRIOR ART

Today, it is desired that compressed air produced by the compressor and stored in air tanks is stored separately for the front axle, rear axle and handbrake in vehicles with air brake system, in case of a possible leak, the intact tanks help the leaking tanks a little, if the pressure in the intact air tanks drops below 4 bar, it should stop helping and the existing intact tanks should not be affected by leakage.

Four-way safety valve tests of vehicles with air brake system are carried out in authorized and private inspection institutions.

In the current test method, the technician uses the discharge valves on the tank so as to discharge the air in each tank, after the tank is emptied, he/she starts the vehicle and fills the air tanks and does this separately for the front axle, rear axle and parking brake tanks.

Emptying and filling the tanks completely depends on the technician. The technician has to perform non-ergonomic movements during the test such as bending over, climbing into the vehicle cabin, and getting out of the vehicle. Liquids such as oil, water, etc. accumulated in vehicle air tanks are discharged directly to the external environment. After each tank is emptied, starting the vehicle again and filling the air tanks (it should be done separately for the front, rear and hand brake air tanks) causes the technician to waste time and effort.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The inventive air brake system four-way safety valve test method comprises the following;

-Connecting the vehicle to be tested with the four-way safety valve to the device with the hoses attached to the front axle air tank test end,

-Connecting the vehicle to be tested with the four-way safety valve to the device with the hoses attached tothe rear axle air tank test end,

-Connecting the vehicle to be tested with the four-way safety valve to the device with the hoses attached tothe handbrake air tank test end, (handbrake tank and the rear axle tank of some manufacturers are common, and a check valve can be used)

-Operating the vehicle air tanks until they reach the maximum occupancy rate (until the Regulator is activated) and stopping the same after the tanks are filled.

In the inventive the four-way test method, it will allow the technician to perform the test without getting out of the driver's seat in vehicles with air brake system.

It will be possible to save time and labor by preventing non-ergonomic, time-wasting movements such as the technician getting off the vehicle to empty each tank and getting back on the vehicle to fill the tanks, bending over to reach the air tank emptying valves.

Polluting harmful liquids that accumulate in the tanks will be prevented from contacting both the technician and the environment, and will provide benefits in terms of worker and environmental health.
