Title:
A FRAME DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1999/017268
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A device for mounting of substantially plane plates is described. It comprises at least one first frame and one second frame, the frames preferably being rectangular, showing two adjacent side lists (1, 2), with a relatively small depth (3) between the forward and backward limiting planes. The frames are flexibly connected to each other, such that the frames may be swung in relationship to each other. The device is primarily characterized in that said frames are connected by at least one elastic means (14), which enables the frames to be swung around an axis (19) coinciding with the limiting lines in at least one of said limiting planes.

Description:
A frame device The present invention relates to a device for mountingofsubstantially plane plates, comprising at least one first frame and one second frame, the frames preferably being rectangular, showing two adjacent side lists, with a relatively small depth between the forward and backward limiting planes, and which frames are flexibly connected to each other, such that the frames may be swung in relationship to each other.

Such devices, that is to say so called foldable signboards, are known since a long time, and are used, especially in sliops, at exhibition, fairs etc. It is often requirecl, that the signboards, i. e. the plane plates, are provided with text, running laterally along several signboards. Devices of the art mentioned introcluctorily known ulltil now are provided with hinges, which means, that the text will show an interspace between the signboards, which will disturb the legibility. There is thus a demand for a device of the art mentioned introductorily, where the distance between the signboards is minimal, also when the frames are swung mutually.

According to the invention, such a device is primarily characterized in that said frames are connected by at least one elastic means, which enables the frames to <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR> be swung around an axis coinciding with the limiting lines in at least one of said limiting planes. In one advantageous embodiment of the invention the elastic means enables the frames to be swung around axes coinciding with the limiting lines in any of said limiting planes. Thus the signboards may be swung forward or backward, which is advantageous, if it is desired, that both sides of the signboards shall be utilized.

In one preferred embodiment a console is used in order to achieve the desired function. The console comprises a straight socket, containing an elastic means, fastened to a first inner end which elastic means, preferably a screw spring extends out from the other end of the socket. Suitably the straight socket is connected, at its other end. with a member, preferably standing at a right angle.

In one preferred embodiment two sockets are connected by a common elastic means. The consoles may be manufactured from several materials, but reinforced polymer, like glass fibre reinforcecl polyamide is suitable. The frames can be made from wood, plastic or other nlaterial. Tlle frames are provided with excesses, into which the consoles are inserted, as is understood from the following disclosure of one embodiment of the device according to the invention.

Reference is made to the enclosed schematic figures, of which : figure 1 shows a front view of one device with two frames, provided with consoles according to the invention, <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR> figure 2 shows a front view, partly in section, of two consoles, connected by a screw spring, with the frames in a plane position. figure 3 shows a plane vienez of two consoles in frames, which have been somewhat swung, whilst figure 4 shows a cross section of a side list of a frame.

In the figures the side list of a first frame is marked by 1 and the side list of a second frame by 2. These side lists border on each other. The frames are rectangular and plane, and their forward and backward limiting planes show a relatively small mutual distance 3, which is obvious from figure 4, which shows the real size of't. the cross section of a side list. This is provided with small flanges 4 and 5 intended to keep and thus cover plane plates, i e signboards. The frames are provided, at their adjacent upper er and lower corners, with consoles G, 7, 8 and 9, inserted and fastened in corresponding recesses in the side lists 1 and 2 and the adjacent upper and lower lists 10, 11, 12 and 13, see figure 3. The elastic means here is formed by a narrow screw spring from metal, fastened to the inner ends of respectively sockets 15 and 16. The sockets are provided with members 17 and 18 standing at right angles. The sockets 15 and 1G are countersunk and fastened to the lists 10 and 12, whilst the members 17 and 18 are countersunk in the side lists 1 and 2.

As is seen especially from figure 3 there is no interspace between the forward limiting lines of the side lists 1 and 2 when the frames are swung forwards around an axis 19, why the text at the signboards in the frames is not interrupted when the frames are swung. Only the width of the flanges 4 and 5 will divide the text at the signboards.
