The present application relates to the technical field of electronic devices, and relates in particular to a frame rate identification method and an electronic device. The method comprises: stabilizing, according to a current target frame rate, image rendering performed by a first application; determining frame lengths of N consecutive images according to a receiving moment at which a rendering result of the first application is received, the N consecutive images being images rendered by the first application; determining the measured frame rate according to the frame lengths of the N consecutive images; and determining a new target frame rate according to the measured frame rate and the current target frame rate, so as to stabilize, according to the new target frame rate, image rendering performed by the first application.
